Does a word mark include the typeface it's written in?

No. A wordmark covers the text itself in plain form, which means the trademark protects the name in all visual representations, but it doesn’t cover your specific typeface or stylization. Once registered, the owner can use the mark in any font or color; the protection applies regardless of how the text is visually presented.

However, that also means that someone with a completely different name may misuse your visual elements in their branding, since the visual elements themselves are unprotected.
