Do I pay just once for the registration, or are there any fees for keeping the trademark?

In most jurisdictions, the only ongoing cost after registration is the renewal fee due every 10 years. There are no annual or maintenance fees during the 10-year validity period.

The US is an exception. In addition to the renewal fee at 10 years, the owner must file a Declaration of Use between the 5th and 6th year after registration, confirming the trademark is still in active commercial use. This filing carries its own fee, and failure to file results in cancellation of the registration.
