All government filing fees for trademarks are due upfront. Most IP offices will not process your application until the payment is confirmed, and an unpaid application is typically treated as not filed.

Any additional class fees are due at the time of filing, since the entire application is not being filed in increments. The only exception would be filing separate applications for each additional class. Renewal fees become due at the end of the 10-year validity period, with most jurisdictions allowing early payment from six months before the expiry date. A grace period for late renewal (typically six months after expiry) is available in most jurisdictions, usually with an additional surcharge.
