Trademark Classes

Trademark classes, also known as "Nice classes," are a system of classification used by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to group similar goods and services for the purpose of registering trademarks.

There are 45 Nice classes in total, which cover all possible types of goods and services that a business may offer. The classes are divided into two main categories:

  1. Goods: This category includes physical items such as clothing, electronics, and food products, among others.
  2. Services: This category includes intangible services such as banking, education, legal services, and healthcare, among others.

Each Nice class represents a specific category of goods or services. When filing for a trademark registration, the applicant must specify which Nice class(es) their goods or services belong to. This ensures that trademarks are registered for specific types of goods and services, rather than being registered for all possible types of goods and services.
