How much does a global trademark cost?

There is no single global trademark. Trademark rights are territorial and must be obtained in each jurisdiction separately, even when filing through the Madrid System.

Registering in every country in the world would cost tens of thousands of USD and is not a practical strategy for most businesses. The standard approach is to register in the markets where you currently operate or plan to expand, and add jurisdictions over time as the business grows.

The most cost-efficient way to cover multiple jurisdictions simultaneously is through the Madrid System, administered by WIPO, which allows a single international application to designate multiple countries at once. The cost is a base international fee plus a per-country designation fee for each territory selected.
