The most important criteria when selecting a monitoring provider are the following.

Jurisdictions covered: confirm that all the countries where you hold registrations and where you are commercially active are included in the service.

Channels covered: decide whether you need register-only monitoring or a more comprehensive service covering domains, social media, app stores, and marketplaces.

Report frequency: confirm how often reports are issued and whether the frequency is appropriate for the opposition windows in your key jurisdictions. For US marks, monthly reporting may not be frequent enough given the 30-day opposition window.

Enforcement options: confirm whether the service includes takedowns, cease and desist letter drafting, or opposition filing, and whether these are included or priced separately.

Similarity thresholds: understand how the service defines similarity and whether the criteria can be configured to reduce false positives.
