If someone opposes my trademark application, will I be charged more money?

Receiving the opposition itself doesn’t cost you any money, but responding to it and defending your application does, since there are extra legal and government fees you need to consider. The total cost depends on the attorney's rates and how the proceedings develop.

Many oppositions are resolved by agreement rather than a full hearing. A co-existence agreement, a narrowing of the goods and services list, or a consent arrangement can often settle the matter without the expense of adversarial proceedings before the IP office.
