Which EU country should I file a trademark in?

For EU-wide protection, the country does not matter; all EU trademark applications are filed with the EUIPO regardless of which member state the applicant is based in or targeting. There is no national filing route for an EU trademark.

If you only need protection in one or two specific EU member states rather than the whole bloc, filing directly with those countries' national IP offices is more cost-efficient than an EU trademark. The choice of which national offices to use depends simply on where you need protection.
