A trademark gives a business exclusive rights to commercially use a brand name or logo, along with the legal grounds to act against competitors who infringe on those rights.

The registration only protects the trademark in connection with the goods and services listed in the application, preventing others from copying or imitating those brand elements and deceiving customers.

Where infringement occurs, a trademark gives its owner legal grounds to take action. This can escalate to court proceedings, but platforms such as Amazon also provide trademark holders with tools to report and resolve infringement without lengthy legal processes.
