Is trademark registration fee "for life"?

No. The registration fee covers the initial 10-year validity period. To keep the trademark active beyond that, a renewal fee must be paid every 10 years.

There is no limit on the number of renewals, so a trademark can be maintained indefinitely, but only if renewal fees are paid on time. In the US, an additional Declaration of Use must also be filed between the 5th and 6th year after registration; failure to do so results in cancellation regardless of whether the renewal fee has been paid.
