The registration fee covers a specific time period, typically 10 years. It does not provide indefinite protection. To maintain the trademark beyond the initial term, a renewal fee must be paid at the end of each 10-year period.

Renewal can be repeated indefinitely, so trademark protection can last as long as the owner continues to renew and use the mark in commerce. There is no maximum number of renewals in any jurisdiction.
