Is a business card a proper specimen of use?

A business card can serve as a specimen for services (Classes 35–45) but not for goods (Classes 1–34). Even for services, business cards are frequently refused because they often do not clearly identify the specific services being offered; a requirement the USPTO applies strictly. If an examiner cannot determine what services are covered from the card alone, the specimen will be rejected.

A website screenshot or brochure that clearly describes the services alongside the mark is a more reliable choice.
