How do you monitor a trademark?

Trademark monitoring can be done manually or through a service, depending on the scope needed.

Manual monitoring means regularly searching the IP office's public database for new applications that are similar to your mark, in the relevant classes and jurisdictions. This requires periodical searches, ideally at least once a month, to stay within the opposition window if a conflicting application appears.

A trademark monitoring service automates this process, scanning databases on a set schedule and alerting you when a potentially conflicting application is filed. More comprehensive services also monitor business registers, domain registrations, social media, and online marketplaces for commercial infringement beyond the trademark register.
