Opposition periods vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, but the current, standard timelines for the most common countries are:

  • US: 30 days (extendable by third parties)
  • EU: 3 months
  • UK: 2 months (extendable by third parties)
  • Canada: 2 months
  • China: 3 months
  • Australia: 2 months
  • New Zealand: 3 months

If no opposition is filed within the window, the application proceeds to registration. If an opposition is filed, both parties are notified, and proceedings begin.
