If the trademark is met with an opposition in one class and ultimately fails to be registered, would that mean that the whole application fails and the trademark is not registered in the other classes as well?

It is possible to receive an opposition for just one of the classes included in your trademark application; however, if that happens, the rest of the application continues in the registration process.

Let’s make an example. You file an application in Classes 9 and 25. A competitor files an opposition against your mark in Class 9. The application with Class 25 continues in the process, whilst Class 9 is temporarily stopped until the issue is resolved. If you fail to resolve the issue amicably or lose the opposition, it only affects Class 9, not Class 25.
