I'm running a global SaaS business. Are there any particular countries that I should consider trademarking my brand in, besides my own?

For a global SaaS business, the most important markets to cover are typically the EU, US, UK, Canada, Australia, and any region where your user base is concentrated.

Beyond those core markets, consider where your highest revenue or growth is coming from and where brand copying is most prevalent in the SaaS sector. India, Japan, Brazil, and the UAE are worth considering for businesses with significant user bases in those regions.

The Madrid System allows a single application to designate multiple countries simultaneously, which is cost-efficient for a business registering in five or more markets at once. The EU trademark covers all 27 member states through a single EUIPO filing.
