I'm based in Canada, but want to sell my product in Canada, USA, Australia and UK (possibly Europe). Do i need to trademark in each of these countries?

You can sell in all of those markets without a trademark. A trademark is not a trading license. What you cannot do without one is prevent competitors from copying your brand name or logo in those markets or take legal action against infringers.

Each of the five jurisdictions you mention requires a separate registration: Canada (CIPO), the US (USPTO), Australia (IP Australia), the UK (UKIPO), and the EU (EUIPO). The EU trademark covers all 27 member states through a single EUIPO filing. Alternatively, the Madrid System can cover the US, Australia, UK, and EU through a single international application based on your Canadian trademark, which is the most cost-efficient route for five or more countries simultaneously.
